Shared services available within the JREC are:
First Steps is an infant toddler center. It is a child care facility for the children of teen parents attending one of the schools in the Julia Richman Education Complex. Part of a city-wide initiative (known as LYFE) First Steps provides developmentally appropriate child care for children from two months to three years of age. First Steps also provides parenting classes for teen parents, is a laboratory for child development classes and is used as a training site for other LYFE programs through out the city.
The Mt. Sinai Student Health Center
The Mt. Sinai Student Health Center provides a range of comprehensive health services to Julia Richman Education Complex students. As a collaborative project with the Adolescent Health Center at Mount Sinai Hospital, the Center provides complete physical exams, health assessments, wellness programs, reproductive health services, diagnosis and treatment of minor illness and injury, and mental health services.
Center For Inquiry in Teaching and Learning
The Center For Inquiry in Teaching and Learning is a professional development institute serving staff from several small New York City public schools. The Center for Inquiry's workshops, seminars, residency programs, and discussion groups engage teachers in curriculum development, instructional strategies, action research, and contemporary issues facing urban educators.
